We diagnosed this smoker with a poor drafting issue and determined a new firebox was needed. The old, worn out firebox was removed by drilling out the old bolts. The unit was sanded at the area of the repair and painted. Then the new firebox was added – breathing new life into this old backyard stick-burner smoker.

Butterflies are some of the most beautiful, graceful things on the planet. And I love to make them, paint them, draw them and of course forge them. I’m always happy when working on them. It goes back to my grandmother – and how her memory is preserved for me.
When I craft them, I always feel like I’m holding a small piece of her in my hands. It’s kind of the driving force for me when it comes to creating them. I always get to remember her – and these help her remain in my life in a special way. And when you get one of my butterflies – you’ll have a little piece of her too.

Any of these can be made custom for you. Each one is individual and unique in some way. Nothing is mass produced or “cookie cutter”. Each one is hand cut, textured and finished by me. There will be no stamped out butterflies coming from my shop. It’s the only way I’ll have it.

Here is a little watercolor painting of Grandma in the garden. Each of her 5 children are represented in various places. I leave it up to them to figure out who is who… It’s how I like to remember her. She was a big influence all around. A gentle soul, and most like a butterfly, to me anyway…
Hand Forged Steel Butterfly on Flexible Wire Base. For Flower Gardens, Windows and Shelves.
Made from 18-guage steel stock with bicycle spoke legs and welded nuts and a nail for a body. The art is 6″x5″ and stands approximately 14″ high on a flexible wire stand which is designed to go around or under flower pots and hang free over the plants. Available in custom sizes.
Custom made Asado Cross with stainless steel hooks and 3 cross-beams and lots of meat! It’s a standard size, capable of holding a whole animal or in this case several different cuts of meat. As pictured: $660. Add another cross beam and 6 more hooks for $100 more.
Slow roast an assortment of ribs and chicken, brats and loins or a whole animal for your next primitive wood-fired outdoor event. Each rack should comfortably hold between 30-40lbs of select cuts and 60lbs of whole animal for a single party.

Custom iron pot racks – any size or configuration. This one is entirely constructed from repurposed, hundred year old wrought iron. These racks are super-strong and can be designed to hang from the wall or ceiling joists. Square, semi-circle, round and rectangular. Get a hand-made pot rack with forged rivets and hooks, chains and cross-members, designed to last a lifetime.
Recycled Steel Firewood Rack – 1/4 cord – for outdoor kitchen.
A very simple, function-over-form assembly of metal needing a new use. Made from repurposed steel, it was a very affordable build. Approximately 1/5 to 1/4 cord capacity. Keeping the wood off the ground prevents termites and keeps the wood dry while seasoning. This holds wood for a pair of offset smokers. Later there will be a sheet metal cover to keep the wood dry during the rainy season.

We love the idea of repurposed metal, or up-cycling old parts into new. This was a fun project – and gave us time to get creative. It’s always harder to work with old metal and try to make something new, but therein lies the challenge. We’re stoked about how this turned out. So is the customer – and that makes us even happier.
